This museum conveys the history and charm of the Hyakunin Isshu, a set of 100 poems said to have originated in this area, as well as the essence of Japanese-style painting.
After climbing the stone steps and passing through the gate, visitors enter the stone garden where they can enjoy the beauty of the four seasons: weeping cherry blossoms in spring, azaleas in early summer, autumn leaves in fall, and snow-capped leaves in winter. The view from the second floor, with Mt. Ogura, famous for the Hyakunin Isshu (100 poems), in the background, and Arashiyama and the Oigawa River, famous scenic spots since ancient times, as borrowed scenery, is just like the world of a Japanese painting.
