Hogonin Temple was built in the Muromachi period (1336-1573) and is the pagoda temple of Tenryuji Temple. It is famous for its beautiful garden with stunning autumn foliage. The garden is a masterpiece with its borrowed scenery of Arashiyama and huge rocks such as “Shishi-iwa” (Lion Rock). The historical architecture and Buddhist statues are also unmissable attractions, and as a place where tranquility and beauty are in harmony, it brings peace of mind and spiritual refinement to many people.
