How to Reserve/Purchase
1.Reserving tickets online
Submit ticket reservations through JR-WEST ONLINE TRAIN RESERVATION, JR-West’s online reservation service, beginning at 10 a.m. on the day 1 month prior to the ride date and up to 30 minutes before departure.
*Tickets can only be reserved during operating hours (5:30 a.m. – 1:50 a.m. JST).
Payment is accepted by credit card only. (Paying at the station is not possible for online reservations.)

2.Receiving tickets and boarding the train
Use a Midori-no-Kenbaiki ticket machine or a Midori-no-Madoguchi counter at a major JR West train station to receive your tickets.

Tickets can only be received at JR West ticketing locations. Tickets cannot be received at JR Central, JR East, JR Shikoku, or JR Kyushu locations. Tickets cannot be received at a travel agency or at a Torokko station.
Notes on Reserving/Purchasing Tickets
Use a Midori-no-Kenbaiki ticket machine or a Midori-no-Madoguchi counter at a major JR West train station to receive your tickets before boarding. (Boarding the train will not be possible just by showing the email with the reservation information.)

Specification of the car and seat number (such as “Car No. 3, Seat No. 7, A–D”) is not possible when reserving/purchasing tickets online. To specify the car and seat number, tickets must be purchased at Japanese travel agencies that offer JR tickets, or from a Midori-no-Madoguchi counter or Midori-no-Kenbaiki PLUS ticket machine at the following JR West stations: Kyoto Station, Kameoka Station, Nijo Station, Saga-Arashiyama Station, Inari Station, Shin-Osaka Station, Osaka Station, Tsuruhashi Station, Kyobashi Station, Shin-Imamiya Station, JR Namba Station, Tennoji Station, Nara Station, Kansai-airport Station, and Sannomiya Station.

When purchasing tickets at the same time as submitting a reservation, any subsequent cancelled tickets (including reducing the number of passengers) will incur a refund handling fee.

Please note that Sagano Romantic Train will not be in operation on the following dates.

All seating on the Sagano Torokko Train is reserved seating.

Fares are all the same (¥880 for adults, ¥440 for children; including fees) regardless of the travel section.

No fare is required for a toddler traveling with an adult or a child . However, babies and toddlers requiring their own seat will need a Child ticket.

Up to 6 tickets in total (for both adults and children) can be reserved/purchased at one time.

Group discounts for 15 or more tickets cannot be reserved/purchased online.

To reserve or purchase tickets for “The Rich” car (car No. 5), select “Sagano Rich Car” on the reservation screen (If no seats are available, an “×” will appear on the train selection screen). “The Rich” car has no windows. Before making your reservation/purchase, please note that you may get wet during rainy weather.

Prior to receiving your ticket, changes to the ticket date and train can be made as many times as you like before the specified train’s departure time.
After receiving your ticket, you are permitted to make one change free of charge before the specified train’s departure time.

A ¥220 handling fee will be deducted for all ticket refunds.
Changes/Refunds
To change or refund a ticket after submitting a reservation, click “Reservation Lookup/Changes/Refunds” on the JR-WEST ONLINE TRAIN RESERVATION main screen of the JR West website.
