Window view
Enjoy the seasonal landscape-spring-time cherry blossoms, the limpid river in summer, autumn maples... If you alight at the in-between stop at Hozukyo Station, you can enjoy a leisurely nature hike around the area.
Bamboo grove
The Sagano-Arashiyama area near both the Saga and Arashiyama tram stations is famous for its bamboo grove, and is a splendid walking course.
Spring
Japan's national flower, the cherry blossom, blooms in abundance along the river gorge, which is among the Kyoto's most famous cherry-blossom sites.
Togetsukyo Bridge
A symbol of the Arashiyama area, the beautiful sight of this bridge has been taken up by many a poet. In days of antiquity, boating here was an eloquent pastime for the aristocracy.
Summer
The open-air tram offers a cooling, refreshing recreation ride. Even the latest-model tram, "The Richi," fea-tures an open grid floor, so passengers can look out of the scenic window view while feeling the natural breeze.
Saga Tram Station
The station, complete with refreshment and gift shops, adjoins JR Saga-Arashiyama Station, making it easy to access from the main gateway to Kyoto, JR Kyoto Station.




Autumn
The river gorge is also famous for its spectacular autumn maples. Riding the tram in this season, the beautiful panorama of the autumn landscape spreads out before ones eyes.
Rental bicycles
An inexpensive and fun way to tour the Sagano-Arashiyma area is by bicy-cle. There is a rent-a-cycle shop in front of the station. If you would like to take the bicycle, please look for this sign.
Winter
The tram ride during the winter has a beautiful mood, too. Perhaps due to the cold, passengers are relatively few, and one can thoroughly relish the Hozukyo scenery.
Hozukyo Tram Station
Picnickers and hikers alight at Hozukyo Station, from where they can walk down to the river or up through the verdant hills. For such nature enjoyers whose time allows, what a wonderful plan!
Shooting the Hozu River Rapids
For the trip back Kameoka Station, how about a thrilling boat go down the Hozu River, catching the splashes of the clear water and hearing the fun talk of the boatman.
Hozu Rivber scene
The tram makes a few minutes stop just past Hozukyo Station, for passengers to enjoy the breathtaking scene of the river gorge, which formerly was the 'main street' for sending timber down from the mountains.
